ASEAN Angel Alliance Summit 2018 brings together ASEAN startups and global investors

Kuala Lumpur, October 8, 2018 – The Malaysian Business Angel Network (MBAN) presents the ASEAN Angel Alliance (AAA) Summit 2018, which will be held on the 27th and 28th of November 2018 in the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The Summit provides unique opportunities for the angel investment community and high-caliber startups from the region to connect, engage, and contribute to the advancement of angel investment.

Building on three years of continued success, the MBAN Summit has been rebranded and will now be known as AAA Summit 2018. AAA, ASEAN’s largest unified organization for accredited angel investors, is hosting this 2-day conference, which aims to promote and increase visibility of angel investments in startup ventures in the region. The AAA Summit 2018 theme “Celebrating ASEAN Angel Investment” is a timely call to action for keynotes, masterclasses, and other formats that address both successes and failures of angel investments in each of the different ASEAN countries.

The AAA Summit 2018 is scheduled to be officiated by the Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad, and closing remarks will be given by the Finance Minister of Malaysia, YB Lim Guan Eng. The Summit is poised to attract more than 200 delegates including angel investors, ecosystem players, government agencies, and entrepreneurs from across ASEAN.

“The diversity and growth in the number of of angel investors among AAA Summit 2018 attendees reflects a rapidly growing interest in angel investing and the startup ecosystem in the region”, said Dr. Sivapalan Vivekarajah, President of MBAN.

“In-line with AAA’s goal to increase and encourage cross-border angel investing opportunities, we have created a platform for attendees to get premier access to some of the most successful angel investors in the world, and to gain insights into best practices that help navigate likely successes and potential failures" he added.

The AAA Summit 2018 premiers the ASEAN-wide pitching competition, “ Enter the Tigers’ Lair ”, where elite startups from each participating ASEAN country compete for a chance to attend and participate in the Summit. Only the 10 best startups will be given the unique opportunity to pitch to a 200-angel-investor audience at the Summit itself. The deadline for applications is October 23, 2018.

Other highlights include a Fireside Chat with YB Lim Guan Eng, Masterclasses on challenging aspects of investment processes, and Fishbowl Sessions that allow for an immediate engagement with experts on urgent questions. The AAA Summit 2018 also features Keynotes by world-class speakers including John Riady (Lippo Group).
